Chant To Return Atazoth

°°°°°°°°°

Several excellent recordings of O9A esoteric chants by the Nameless Therein are available from the video-sharing website “youtube” {1}. We especially recommend the recordings of two difficult ones: the Chant to Open a Star Gate and the Chant to Return Atazoth {2} and which chants were included in the recent book Baeldraca {3} and are written in cheironomic neumes. {4}

{4} It has been suggested that this ancient form of notation “was a medium of melodic transmission in an oral tradition” – see for example the chapter Toward A New Historical View Of Gregorian Chant by Helmut Hucke in ThomasForrest Kelly (editor), Chant and its Origins, Routledge, 2009. ISBN 9780754626329 – and that it was a graphical representation of the hand-signs of the choirmaster.
